Florida Reading Association
The mission of the Florida Reading Association is to promote quality literacy instruction, advocate life-long reading, clarify educational issues for decision makers, and support research in literacy. Each year, eight books are nominated for the Florida Readers Association book award. Students in Kindergarten-Second Grades will have the opportunity to listen to and/or read those books. In March/April, students that have heard/read at least 5 of 8 stories will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite.
Students in Kindergarten will complete a Reader's Response and turn it in to Mrs. Doherty in the Media Center. First and Second grade students will take and pass the accompanying AR quiz with a minimum of 80% Please click www-pvmkr.stjohns.k12.fl.us/media/files/2016/05/K-2-SSYRA-JR-2017-18.pdf for a list of the Florida Reading Association nominees for the 2017-2018 school year.
